Lovely informative write up should help lots of people but as you so rightly said it all depends on your own self discipline.

I wish this blog were up and running five years ago (and if it was, I wish I'd found it!). In particular, I wish I had read this post five years ago to keep myself from having a credit score that looks like Forest Gump's IQ score, which is currently and irrevocably (for a while anyway) the case.

I'm just glad it's up now so that someone out there can avoid some of the mistakes I made.

Let's just say that being over 11k in debt by the tender age of 22 (that's five years ago) and even with steady payments does not a good credit score later in life make.

These days I when asked why I don't open my own business I smile and say, "With my credit score I couldn't open a pack of gum."

As glib as I may be in person, in private it still sucks. Please let me be an advertisement of what NOT to do!

Keep up the excellent and helpful blogs, Stephanie and thank you!
