you are crazy to open an account with etrade. it’s no big surprise they will bait and switch you, as you have already noticed (“One note: since they started this promotion, E*TRADE has dropped the rate on this account down to 4.7%.”).

Batman22: I read the link you posted, and I agree – I would have switched brokerages if that happened to me, as well.
But that isn’t the case with E*TRADE’s savings account. I’ve had this account since February, and have no incurred a single fee with it.
And the rate drop is not a case of “bait-and-switch” – nearly all online savings accounts have dropped their rates in the last few months because of the Fed dropping the national rate back in September.
