With them having a credit card, they need to be responsible with his/her new credit card and ensure that his payments will be made on time to establish a good payment and credit history. It is a shame so many students get caught in credit card traps even before they graduate. Students do need to act financially responsibly. So many people give a credit card a bad name because they don't know how to use them properly, it's really a shame.
