Well, the latest Carnival of Personal Finance is up, and it’s a doozy! My post, Money Advice for the College Student, Part III is included. I was on the fence about whether I should post Part I or Part III. I have been told that Part III is the strongest, so that’s why I chose to go with that – but I think the whole thing is worth reading, because I wrote it the way I carry on conversations with my friends about finance: find out what already know, calm any fears, and then share what I know.
Here are other articles featured in the Carnival that I enjoyed:
War on the War on the Middle Class – If you want to get ahead, stop trying to keep up with the Jones!
When There Isn’t Enough Money To Get What You Want – When the money isn’t there to pay for something, you have three choices.
Woman’s Good Financial Sense Leads to Windfall – A woman decides to sell a family heirloom to pay for her daughter’s education, and her good intentions end up bringing her much more than she expected!
Love Hurts, The Hidden Cost of Girlfriends sparked the rebuttal: The Hidden Cost of Having a Boyfriend (you guys cracked me up!)
How To Fight Back Against Collection Agencies came at the perfect time for me – my mom just got a letter from a collection agency, and she has no idea what the debt is that they’re referring to.
How To Set Up a Savings Snowball – what a great idea! I think anyone who finishes with the debt snowball (or starts debt free, you lucky ducks!) should do this!
Why Aren’t We All Wealthy (Yet)? answers the question that snarky commenters plague Personal Finance bloggers with: “If you know so much, why aren’t you filthy rich yet?”
Top 5 Ways to Hustle Free Drinks – with my 21st birthday less than 7 months away, I’ll be practicing these! *wink*
And there’s tons of other great articles listed, of course. I just got sick of keeping so many Firefox tabs open so that I could write this entry!
Thanks for the mention ๐
Stephanie,
Thanks for including my post in your highlights.
I enjoyed reading your post Money Advice for the College Student.
Thanks for cataloging all of these. I highly recommend the “Why Aren’t We All Wealthy (Yet)” post to anyone looking for some common-sense advice on building wealth. There are so many bloggers out there proposing their own investment schemes, it’s nice to see one acknowledging the potential and limitations of wealth creation plans more generally.
Cool post, I enjoyed reading them a lot.
Bullish Bankers’s last blog post..The International Gold Rush โ A Commodity Poised for Growth
This post may be a few years old, but the stock market related links still have a lot of value to them. Thanks for compiling!
